Question 1

What information does Telco need to quote a custom motor?

Accepted Answer

Share your continuous and peak torque, target speed, supply voltage, duty cycle, envelope restrictions, shaft and mounting interface, feedback or control requirements, environmental conditions and expected annual volume. With those nine inputs our engineers can return a technical concept and indicative pricing, usually within two to three business days.

Question 2

How long does a custom motor development program take?

Accepted Answer

A modified standard platform can reach functional samples in roughly 4 to 8 weeks. A ground-up design with new laminations, windings or gearbox tooling typically runs 12 to 20 weeks through design review, prototype, validation testing and first-article approval before volume release.

Question 3

Which motor technology is best for battery-powered equipment?

Accepted Answer

Brushless DC and coreless DC motors deliver the highest efficiency per watt and the longest service life without brush maintenance, which makes them the preferred choice for portable, battery-powered and continuous-duty equipment. Brushed DC remains cost-effective for intermittent duty, while hybrid steppers are best where open-loop positioning accuracy matters.

Question 4

Does Telco support low-volume and prototype quantities?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We support prototype and pilot builds so your design can be validated before tooling commitments, then scale the same qualified configuration into recurring production with documented change control.

Question 5

What documentation is provided for medical and laboratory programs?

Accepted Answer

Programs for medical and laboratory OEMs can include drawing-controlled specifications, material declarations, test data, first-article inspection reports and change-notification agreements so your device documentation and audits stay complete.
